I was walking down the street one day when she caught my attention. I spied her out of the corner of my eye, with her sly expression and unapologetically yellow blouse. I sized her up and decided she should come home with me, much to the chagrin of everyone else in my group. "You know that's a really ugly painting, right?" "Yes, but it's got some serious personality"... and so she came to stay.
Most of my apartment is carefully planned, measured and executed to a "T" because, let's be honest, fitting 2 dogs, 2 people and (as was the case this weekend) the occasional guest into 400 square feet is no easy task. But I love to bring in the occasional find to give it that much needed dose of personality. While this need is usually met by picking up the oddest looking houseplant at Paxton Gate, the occasional flea market find (often with an unknown past use) or interesting piece of art also does the trick without eating up to much valuable square footage.
