Blogging for AT, we can be a little bit fickle with our love for a design. We fall in love pretty quickly, but then we fall out of love just as fast. But there's one item that's we've been coveting from day one...
We dream about Arne Jacobsen's Egg Chair...in white leather. If we had one, we'd treat it so nice. We'd use it all the time. We would sit it and read in it and spin around it in and we'd never ever have to leave our chair ever ever. What about you? What's piece of furniture do you dream about owning?

Ercol Bar Stool
I know it's tired, but I'm dying for a Saarinen tulip dining table. It's just a perfect piece of furniture. It goes with everything. It can be styled anyway. I would love it and pat it and squeeze it and call it George.
I have Egg chair envy, too, but in the Caramel-colored saddle leather. I've pitched it on two jobs so far, to no avail.
Ralph Lauren used to carry a chrome butterfly chair with a white leather cover that was pretty sweet, and two would be perfect in my all-white-except-for-the-art fantasy Florida condo I am still furnishing (in my head).
Without any doubt, without any hesitation it would have to be an Eames Lounge Chair. When I saw it on an episode of Frasier I loved it and wanted it before it even had a name. It was just simply "that chair."
Barcelona chair. White leather.
The oak, claw-foot table I grew up eating on...so that I can remember what it felt like to have my now-deceased dad at the head of the table and all of us kids gathered around.
the perfect coffee table... don't really know what it is yet, but pretty sure i will be speechless when i finally see it...
The Egg chair has always been my favorite, too - in this original light blue-grey color that was used by Arne Jacobsen in the SAS Royal Hotel in Copenhagen.
A cozy red-orange Womb Chair or a Platner coffee table. Please.
I would love to own this!

I'm with burpchick...barcelona chair
Wow! all the picks so far are on my list of dream furniture, I would love the Eero Saarinen's Womb chair in orange fabric
an arco lamp
Gaetano Pesce Up5/Up6 lounge chair and ottoman
Ingo Maurer Porca Miseria Chandelier
Jean Prouve Cite Lounge Chair
I'm digging that blue Egg chair in the photo. Also, an antique farm table, which I don't even have room for anymore, but I've always wanted one.
Eames lounge chair ottoman in white leather.
An Arco lamp and an Eames lounge with black leather and rosewood ply. *swoon*
I also covet my parent's danish china cabinet/hutch. It's beautiful and I've got my name on it for when they finally decide to downsize. Not like I have the room, but I'll MAKE the room for it.
Absolutely beatiful.
Togo sofa and chair
Eames fiberglass [arm] shell chairs. One rocker [for a nursery..one day], two regular [for the living room].
i want 30s-40s style Vanity for my bedroom and an Anthropogie sofa and ottoman for my living room.
Ahhhh there's so many...
- An Edward J Wormly for Dunbar Chaise lounge http://www.collectdunbar.com/listen_to_me.html
- being Australian and a big fan of Grant Featherstone, his chaise lounge which usually has a head rest too
http://www.dhub.org/object/127870
Oh and the cherner chair!
I like curvy furniture, what can I say.
Add me to the list of womb chair lovers.
I'd like an Eames Walnut Stool, please.
A red womb chair (with ottoman) - my college's library had a pair, along with hoards of other mid-century items.
Sigurd Ressel Vatne Mobler Falcon lounge chair with headrest and ottoman in brown leather with chrome frame.
One day.
Saarinen tulip table, hands down.
I was never that into modern design until I saw it. The Ikea Docksta, although perfectly suitable and nice, is no substitute.
Or a bright aqua Womb chair covered in Knoll Cato. I'm easy-going.
Wegner's Papa Bear chair. My mom told me that her favorite is his Peacock chair, so Wegner love runs in the family!
Anything from BDDW!
http://www.bddw.com
Eames LCW molded plywood chair. I've been keeping an eye on eBay.
Just to get on the Tulip table bandwagon -- 36 inch w/maple top.
hard to choose one. i'm a chair addict.
but i'm looking for that one really COMFORTABLE vintage lounger/ottoman for my bay window. ( i've narrowed it down to wegner's poppa bear, ox, or flag halyard, a saarinen's womb, the eisner & hauner lounge, and a borsani L77 chaise.)
now if i can just find one before it hits wright20 or sollo/rago, let alone 1stdibs.
love the egg, but i don't really find it comfortable.
I would LOVE to own the lucite table and chairs with pale pink pigment powder by Elizabeth Paige Smith. It's stunning.

Egg Chair in "pony" (cowhide) or a new patchwork design, celebrating the 50 year anniversery by Danish artist Tal R. wowie.
Design-wise, the Egg chair has always been my favorite, and it's very comfortable to sit in (for me, anyway - especially when reclining). But to be honest, the Poppa Bear chair is actually a lot more comfy for long periods.
Definitely, a black leather egg chair.
Metal barrister bookcase.
I've actually snagged a couple of my life-long wants already ... and at bargain prices. A vintage tanker desk & a card catalog mostly. As for "new" designer things: growing up it was always a Nelson marshmallow sofa, but I've outgrown that one, I guess. For the last ten years or so now it's been a Time-Life Eames chair in red leather. I also badly want this Lane cedar hope chest my mom has from 1960 - both for sentimental reasons and because it's totally kickass in midcentury goodness - but she's already promised it to one of my sisters who doesn't like vintage (or "old-time" as she calls it) furniture. Ho hum.
I also fantasize about a grand piano someday. (And yes, I do play ... it's not just for decoration!) ;-)
An egg chair in some goofy bright print.
Or a set of Jacobsen's No. 7 chairs for the dining room. They were the first piece of furniture I ever fell in love with.
Oh ... guttersnipe, you just reminded me ... I want a steel barrister too!
A pair of arm Percy Maxim chairs by the design firm AvroKo
i heart melts like butter every time i see them!

"right angle" im with you on the BDDW comment, GOD what i wouldnt do for one of thier credenzas! ::homer simpson-esque dougnts impression::
Red womb chair please. :) Although it would never fit in my current studio. Maybe when I move up in the world? *laughs*
I've always wanted a chaise lounge. Something like this:
http://lancasteranch.com/images/product_chaise_lounge.jpg
But in dark wood or gold and a red velvet seat!
Oh, and like ridge_van_winkle, a glossy black baby grand piano! Steinway, please. (I play, too.)
Saarinen tulip dining table
steel barrister bookcase
card catalog (30 drawer)
Jasper sectional sofa from R&B (that magically repels cat hair and claws)
oh and a teak coffee table
Add me to the list of Womb chair coveters. I don't even care what color.
If I won the lottery, however, the first piece of furniture that I would buy would be a Richard Schultz petal table.
The Maly Bed and a closet system from Poliform...swoon.
Le Corbusier Chaise Longue, or, since we're talking about dreams, a 17th century Dutch, Italian or French cabinet like this : http://www.lesartsdecoratifs.fr/img/01museeartsdeco/03visite/010acanthes_rinceaux/cabinet_gole_zoom.jpg
or this one:
http://www.jbchapuis.fr/images/cabinet_it.jpg
or any early 17th century furniture.
I would love a Tansu step chest from Green Tea in Toronto:
http://www.greenteadesign.com/living-room-tansu-step-chests.html
Hans Wegner wing chair and ottoman
4 or 6 3107 from Arne Jacobsen chairs in white.
Egg chair in orange corduroy. So retro and sexy.... dreamy!
absolutely anything designed by poul kjaerholm. he makes me weak in the knees.
haha reading this list is like listening to a kid with A.D.D rattle off a christmas list...... ::chuckle::
A small Noguchi Table for my tiny lounge area. Bliss.
unoriginally, a womb chair or an egg chair (I really like the blue in the picture) or an eames lounge chair.
My dream piece of furniture is this English Bookseller's Shelf & Ladder:
http://www.victoriantradingco.com/store/catalogimages/2d/i11865.html
My other piece of dream furniture is a handwoven willow chair, like this (only with a better-looking seat cushion):

A red womb chair and ottoman please!
The Up5 chair - in stripes. Just like sitting on grandmas lap while she does her knitting :)
http://freshome.com/2008/04/11/up5-chair-and-its-ball-shaped-ottoman/
Finn Juhl Poet Sofa & a Serge Mouille 3-arm ceiling lamp
A womb chair!
A red corduroy egg chair and ottoman, and a time life chair in white leather.
I recently fulfilled one of my little furniture dreams, winning a three - armed, chrome "eyeball" pole lamp on ebay - I spent too much, but I just love love love it, and sometimes you have to spend some money to get what you want! I will keep dreaming on the others though, they will not be mine anytime soon!
Marcel Wanders knotted chair is my dream item!
http://www.bonluxat.com/a/Marcel_Wanders_Knotted_Chair.html
I already owned a vintage Rosewood Eames lounge, Eames walnut LCW (sold off on Craigslist), and recently bought a Ligne Roset Togo chair.... which is heaven to sit in!
I'd sit on a bag of rocks if it came with a fireplace.
It's quite a list actually, but these two never seem to lose their spot:
"Take a line for a walk" armchair from Moroso.
"Togo" sofa and armchair from Ligne Roset.
I would LOVE for a Platner collection of furniture to mysteriously appear in my driveway...
Kudos to TwelveIndustries! Kjaerholm is amazing!
But...if I had one piece that I could have - Hans Wegner's Ox chair hands down. Amazing, sculptural, powerful! Love it!
a 1971 mogensen 2-seat sofa. in black, maybe, though the natural is just incredible. it's perfect. and a bargain at only $19,205! (side cushions extra.)

@ K T G:
I started searching. Those long drawers are used for flat maps, like here (scroll down at both places):
http://www.goldenislesenterprises.com/product_descriptions_-_binders__storage
http://www.office-concepts.com/used.htm
But I'm not finding any desks with incorporated flat map drawers.
These are some antique flat file drawers:
http://www.hapmoore.com/images/july06/flat_files.jpg
And newer ones, used as a coffee table:
http://www.sonrisafurniture.com/details.php?prodId=52&category=10
You might even try contacting that last place, and show them the image you have, to see if they can give you a better idea of what it's name might be, or if they have an idea of what something like that might cost.

I would like a comfortable chair, that's my dream. One that I can get in and out of easily. One that isn't ruined by cat claws or clumsiness. One that will clean up nicely if the cat yaks up on it, or if I spill on it. One that won't rust, rot, or absorb things. One that doesn't let fur, fluff, lint cling to it. In other words, such a chair does not exist.
Eames lounge chair, definitely.
LC4 cowhide ( I work at DWR PT, so it could possibly be "within reach" thanks to employed discounts!) or anything at www.hudsonfurnitureinc.com
What about having to choose between a limited edition Eames Lounge in Black and a Black Pony Haired LC4?
