What's Your Green Resolution?

What's Your Green Resolution?

Every year, we're surprised by the sense of renewal we feel at the beginning of January. This year seems especially promising, maybe because with it's also the start of a new decade. While we made leaps and bounds in our green living in 2009, we're planning on making even more this year, and we're wondering: Are you doing the same?

Last year we learned to compost almost anything, reuse packaging creatively, and make sure our appliances operate efficiently... For 2010, we're planning to kick it up a notch.

First of all, there's always the goal to recycle more (and produce less trash) than the year before. Now, our trash can is smaller than our two recycling bins to encourage us.

We're also getting into better shopping habits, putting off buying new things for a while so that we are forced to reorganize and de-clutter (an impending move is also inspiration for the no-shop resolution).

To top it off, our household of two has gone vegetarian (and helped inspire another couple to do the same), which is probably the biggest green move we've made thus far! We have eliminated about 90% of processed foods from our home and are instead turning to all organics and locally produced ingredients.

So, what have you resolved to do greener this year—and how have you inspired the folks around you?
