Christmas time makes us all a buzz with some serious handmade goods. From ornaments to gifts and decorations to snacks, sometimes it feels impossible to fit it all in. When working on surprises for your little ones do you end up burning the midnight oil, try to wake before they do, or hire a sitter? Share your thoughts after the jump!
Our most creative times seem to be around the 1am-2am hour, though that's not always possible or practical. When do you weasel in a moment to get something put together? Do you work during nap times or when everyone's at school (assuming it's not a snow day!). Let us know in the comments below!

Naptime! Or bedtime! I can't get anything done when our 2 year old is awake, unless I send him out of the house with his dad, but we try to reserve awake time for family time on the weekends.
I drink plenty of coffee while they are awake so I have the energy to work while they sleep:) It is a good trade-off for getting things done.
This has been on my mind lately! Everyone is in bed--should I clean the kitchen, work, or make gifts? What I really should do is go to sleep! Oh well....
My son is 4 son so I rope him into helping, or set him up with his own little project and we work together, side by side, any projects that are for him, I do when he is in bed.
Hire a sitter? In my dreams!
Everything happens between midnight and two or three or at worst four... my kids all sleep late - after 8ish and I have a pile of books in the bed and they tossle around till I rise!!!
Then after lunch we have a "heat of the day nap" - naps are essential to my survival!!!
I am going to be making a gift for a friend and I've already told my husband to plan to keep the kiddo busy for a Sunday afternoon soon so I can lock myself in the bedroom and work without interruption.
Usually by this time of year, I have quite a few vacation days piled up so I take off Fridays and finish up more complex projects while the 2 year old is at daycare. Anything she can help with occurs on the weekends.
It depends on what I'm making. Some things I do when they're awake and some I save for nap time. I'm no night owl though, so it all gets done during the day.
last night i started working on part of the kid's x-mas gift as soon as she went to sleep. got all the parts cut out and pinned, tonight i'll sew everything together and voila!
last weekend she and i worked together on making ornaments for her gifts to friends and family. she's two, so i chose to do some simple button http://www.marthastewart.com/photogallery/christmas-ornaments#slide_20 href> ornaments from martha stewart.
You know, I am totally curious how mamas like Soule Mama get so much creating done. With a two year old, I make handmade gifts one step at a time, night after night - it takes a week, or two weeks. I can't stay up late without being a total crank the following day and I need that patience to get anywhere, so if I'm making it boy I better really, really want to do it since that one hour in the evening is my only empty time. I love making something special, but it's not a decompressor.
