Incorporating reclaimed materials in a project is a great way to keep items out of the landfill (and if you're lucky, have a good story to tell!), but coming up with a design that accommodates both old and new can be a challenge. That's why I was delighted to stumble upon this tiny backyard house - a good example of charming and clever reuse that doesn't look... well, junky.
Located in Portland, OR, this backyard getaway is only 154 SF and includes a small living area with sleeping loft above, perfect for visiting friends or a home office.
The siding is varied in color because it came from three different Oregon barns! Other elements include a salvaged copper roof, natural plaster walls and an efficient wood stove.
