When The Cat's Away: Martha has a New Boss...

Big house blues. Over at Gawker, they aren't being so nice about it: Apparently unhappy with business performance after its namesake became a prison bitch, Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia has been in negotiations with former ABC entertainment president Susan Lyne... Which means MSLO is doomed. But at New York Magazine they are hopeful, placing great faith in Ms. Lyne. They have some interesting facts too that point to the decline of Martha's magazine and the incredible rise of REAL SIMPLE: In August, Real Simple reported to the Audit Bureau of Circulations that newsstand sales -- the best barometer for measuring a magazine's "heat" with readers -- had ticked up 10 per cent to nearly 400,000 copies per month, a level almost unheard of for a magazine that does not feature celebrities on its cover.
