Q: I saw a cabinet that hangs on the back of a door in a catalog and want to do something similar, but in a different size than they offer. The hinge they use is ingenious, as it fits over your existing door hinges. Any ideas where I could find a similar hinge?
The over-the door storage cabinet seen above is from Grandin Road.

It looks like this hardware is a *patented* connections system, and is not available anywhere separately. There is a slightly cheaper brand called Cabidor that might carry a better size for you.
If neither of these work, why not just mount a cabinet directly to the back of the door? It would only make a few holes that are easily reparable. The design of the hinge shown looks pretty flimsy anyway - I would be very surprised if it could support as much weight as a traditional cabinet hinge.
I think you could use a "L" bracket that had a large enough hole that the hinge pin could slide through. Something like this:

Maybe not this exact bracket but something similar.
Try Hafele and CR Laurence, two architectural hardware companies. Best of luck!
try vandykes.com. also, be sure to add extra hinges to your door to bear the additional weight
