Q: I absolutely love the rug in this Dwell home slideshow. Since stumbling across it (at Unhappy Hipsters, no less), I've literally looked at thousands of rugs and the closest I've come is the Foreign Accents Elementz Starburst rug (shown below, from Sears) in turquoise. It's good but it's not it, if you know what I mean. Does anyone have any idea where I can find this gorgeousness?

Shaw's Original Fir...
I feel the impulse to knock his feet off the pole.. similar to the impulse I feel when people put their feet on subway poles. Any other New Yorkers out there feel my pain? :)
The rug in the room is a vintage Scandinavian Rya Rug - I they're not available new in the US in those psychedelic patterns anymore, but perhaps still in Finland, Sweden, Norway or Denmark?
Here's a place in England that specializes in vintage rugs:

...and there's always eBay.
Looks like vintage Rya. Check 1st dibs and ebay, you might get lucky.
I'm not sure what size you're looking for, but here is a very similar area rug from bellacor - http://www.bellacor.com/productdetail/427519.htm. Hope this helps.
Adelia, yes, I wanna knock his feet right off that pole. Why do guys put their feet up on stuff? (Why do women put their butt cheeks on either side of the damn subway poles?!)
Here's a similar one on 1st Dibs:

And this one that's already sold:

They're fairly expensive but very in-demand, particularly in the blue colorways and the larger sizes - and they're not that far off the price for new wool rugs of similar quality.
If you don't find it check out the rugs designed by
Nanimarquina its a Spanish Modern rug company some stores have them here in the US.
here is an example and I have seen deeper blue ones

We have had great luck with NuLoom....especially when they show up on Gilt. My shag rug from them is great, and then tend to have some better patterns. However, you probably won't find anything as funky as this one....but its worth a shot.

Definitely e-Bay, you might have to search for a few months for the right one, but it will show up if you are patient. Use the search words Rya, Ege Rya, or Danish Modern Rug. Or if you have any local Mid Century Modern shops in your area, try there too, you can see it in person before you buy and not have to pay for shipping.
This was posted 9/2 on Craigstlist Denver:

These are quite common in Scandinavia and in Sweden. One name to look out for is Marianne Richter. Not sure if she made this particular one, though - probably not.
However, some seller on Swedish eBay - www.tradera.com - might be willing to send the rug to the States. Probably expensive as hell, but if you really want one...
Try searching for RYA and RYAMATTA and you will find...

He looks like a happy hipster to me.
Classic modern sells vintage textiles.

IKEA has one rug that is similar but more of an indigo/purple colorway.

You guys are amazing!! I was at my absolute wit's end. Thank you so very much.
In Chicago, these show up on CL from time to time.
Floor Model in LA has a good selection of vintage rugs.

Scandinavia is Sweden as well as Norway and Denmark, just for clarification.
I must be a very unladylike woman. I love to put my feet on a metro pole, or on the seat in front, or on a living room table (in my own house, or after asking permission in someone else's house). I guess I just like to be comfortable that way. But yeah, the butt cheek on the pole grosses me out. AND I do take my feet away when someone comes in the metro...
Oh give me a break. You're critiquing a guy resting his feet?
How about critiquing someone who can't find a simple rug?
