Q: Frustration knows no bounds when I can't find something. I came across this picture on the Gracious Home website of these very cool, black roller shower curtain rings which also have rollers going all around them.

GH doesn't sell them, the folks from Matouk didn't style the shot, and I can't find them anywhere else on the web. Has anyone seen these anywhere? Does anyone have a source???
>> here's the link to the page where I found them.

Home Depot sells Westinghouse chains in brass that you could spray paint black, cut to size, then buy the connector pack that they sell, too.

That looks like it's made from basic ball chain! I make jewelry as a hobby and have purchased supplies from Etsy. Go to Etsy.com and search for "black ball chain" under "supplies." You'll get tons of options for chain and connectors. (Just checked; it's $12 for a spool of 32' of chain, and $2.95 for 100 connectors.) Keep in mind there are different thicknesses of chains, measured in millimeters. SUPER easy DIY! You snip the chain to the desired length, and link the two ends with a connector.
Aren't you clever Amberm? Thanks.
I agree with Amberm, it looks like simple ball chain to me. Buy a spool, connectors and cut to size. What a super cheap and clever way to hang a shower curtain.
Maxwell,
Great DIY project! My best guess: the stylists bought ball chain (by the foot) and cut it to the desired length. The "rollers" on top are just the end-to-end connectors of the same gauge. Just decide what diameter and length of chain you need (these might be 3 or 4mm) and the necessary number of connectors in the same gauge.
I found several online suppliers of ball-chain, in various finishes (even a rainbow of colors). These appear to be enameled black but could also be antiqued bronze. Match to your fixtures! I haven't included a link as I can't vouch for the sources but Etsy had some under jewelry supplies.
I might have to do this myself! Thanks for the post.
LOL... I guess that's a ditto from me, amberm. I should hit *REFRESH* more often.
Remodelista.com sells them in chrome for $12.99 a set, but I haven't seen them in black anywhere.

Last minute thought: consider the curtain rod... if there is any transfer from the finish they'll look like hell after awhile.
Haha, my idea would have been to buy those keychains/clothes/other stuff that come with these! I have a few stashed in my junk drawer...I've for example hung scissors from a hook with these things!
Looks great but I wonder if it might tear the curtain rather quickly. After all, the load bearing points are the narrow bits between the balls and are only fractions of a mm thick. With regular pulling back and forth of the curtain, plus the chance that the balls aren't really rolling but dragging on the rod, adding to resistance...
I'm just saying, looks great, but might be all it is O.O
that looks like chains for bathroom plug?

I bought similar shower curtain rings from target in chrome about 3 years ago. They have not held up well. They've destroyed the curtain rod, fall apart pretty easily, and make changing the shower curtain a major event. :/
Seems like you could get everything you need from a decent hardware store.
I agree with other posters about potential wear on the curtain. Might work best with a curtain that has grommets instead of sewn buttonholes.
get the black anodized and the finish will hold up:

there's also black brass:

When I redid a bathroom a few years ago I wanted to mount the shower curtain rod higher than normal but still use a standard length shower curtain. I used 18-inch strands of ball chain (cut from longer pieces bought at Home Depot) to hang the curtain about 9 inches below the rod. It's worked great for nearly 6 years (silver finished ball chain on a nickel rod).
Metal grommets would solve the load bearing issue
It's just black ball chain that you can pick up at any True Value or Ace hardware.
I imagine Michael's would have them too. Won't set foot in Hobby Lobby to find out though.
Hi everyone! My name is Becky and I work at Gracious Home -- I'm in the process of asking our Art Director where the rings are from (we styled this shot). I'll post again as soon as I get the answer!
Thanks Becky!
Not exactl;y the same, but I got some bronze ones at Ross and they had chrome as well.
This would also work well for a window treatment. Don't know about the wear & tear on a shower curtain though.
