Q: I recently purchased a set of Peabody fiberglass wingback chairs (also misattributed to Luther Conover), exactly like these chairs on the Modernica blog. They need some minor restoration:
1. One chair needs one of the supports (the plastic shock) reglued to the chair.
2. Both chairs could use a light sanding and new gel coats.
Do you know of any restorers in NYC that would handle such work? It seems like there are options in LA (Modernica quoted us a reasonable rate), but I can't find anyone in NYC.
Any information would be appreciated. Thanks!

You can restore the fiberglass yourself probably, using Penetrol. See this post and the links in it: http://www.apartmenttherapy.com/refinish-sun-bleached-ikea-cha-154874
