Where the Wild Things Are...At Home

Maurice Sendak's Where the Wild Things Are has inspired many terrific Halloween costumes and birthday parties, but some people love it so much that they've used it as decor inspiration. Take a peek at a few examples.

1. We spotted this room in a Finnish design book and love how it evokes the feel of the Wild Things without using a single character from the book.

2. Doris of The Art Annex and her students transformed this ordinary Ikea chair into a prime reading spot with markers. In fact, they made two! It's for use in their classroom, but could just as easily be in a kid's bedroom.

3. Julian's room has different areas for play and activity, this one enhanced with a mini Wild Things mural.

4. Apartment Therapy wrote about this huge Wild Things wall mural from the 1970s that, cheekily, carried over onto the furniture.

5. Here's another mural, this one painted with the help of two children. Check out an in-progress photo.
