CNET's The Download Blog has an informative benchmark between the latest final browser builds from Microsoft, Google and Mozilla. We're using the latest beta of Chrome 11 with little complaints, but it looks like Firefox 4 is the way to go if you're looking for a stable final version with startup and hardware acceleration in mind. Check out the breakdown of benchmark charts over at CNET.

Opera is the fastest, closely followed by Chrome.
These tests are flawed and useless. They only prove which browser is fastest on a very clean system. No one uses a system configured anything like those used in the tests.
These are all free applications. Download them all, use them all and you will see which one works fastest on your computer.
@funstraw - True, but the browser does indicate a degree of tech savvy from the user. IE users probably have a much more broken system than Firefox or Chrome users.
Personally, I am and will most probably always be a Firefox devotee. Most likely because I rebel against Chrome. But I DID install chrome on my husbands new netbook because it uses the least system resources by far. Having said that, I think that Firefox 4 is pretty darn amazing.
the problem with chrome is that a lot of site don't seem to have proper support for it. For example, I was on J. Crew and the pictures of the items would not load. I thought the site was down but I gave it a try with Firefox at the same time and everything worked perfectly fine. Some other mainstream sites as well.
And don't forget... it's just a browser.
