While catching up with our sister site AT:LA this week we happened upon a picture of our home attached to a Good Question. Funny how the internet works, isn't it? So we thought we'd answer the question ourselves . . .
The cake plate under the planter, which is 12.5" in diameter, is actually not vintage, but an $8.99 find from Ross, our favorite discount retailer. The pot is from Longs, the drugstore chain.
We do occasionally pull the cake stand out from under the plant to use it for its original purpose - holding cake (only after washing it well, of course) but in between we've found this solution to be a good one, simultaneously freeing up cabinet space and giving the plant a little "lift."
The photo on top is a new one, taken this morning. As you can see, the plant has changed significantly in the past six months, mainly due to some unfortunate neglect.
(Oh, and we're assuming the original question asker got the photo from our flickr stream.)
