Here's a color combo you don't often see much of anymore - white appliances against a natural birch palette. Especially in a day in age where everyone wants that stainless steel (some have even resorted to adding skins to theirs), it's a refreshing take on traditional modern that we can definitely dig.
Of course, that's not to rag on anyone who appreciates that moody stainless steel look (says the blogger who's writing on his MacBook Pro at this very moment). But combined with natural light and some of my favorite tech gadgets...

Well, you get the idea. White is certainly not out this year - if anything, we might start seeing its mean comeback.

Shaw's Original Fir...
Ah, 1991.
Looks exactly like the kitchen in my new place, which was updated in 1992. if this comes back in style I guess I don't have to remodel it after all!!
I'm not a fan of those cabinets, but I really like white appliances. I can't wait for stainless to be out.
I think it looks very pretty and modern in the pics above. Sure, it can look dated, but it's all about doing it right. And I'll take white appliances over stainless any day!! I so don't get the current stainless rage.
I like it. I try not to associate a design with a particular date. It will only limit the possibilities.
Yeah, I'm okay with the color combo. Light colored wood with white is basically my apartment. My issue is with the handles and the handle placements. They really are too big, and while I understand they were going for modern, the horizontal placement of them is really not pleasing.
Here is how they should have done it: http://image.shutterstock.com/display_pic_with_logo/80220/80220,1224042159,2/stock-photo-modern-kitchen-design-with-birch-cabinets-18916654.jpg
Today's stainless is tomorrow's avocado green.. I have white appliances in my newly remodeled kitchen with few regrets.
I still love stainless steel and it's been around a while now. I am moving into my new condo next week and I did birch and stainless. I'm not sure I like my tile choice so that may go.

I wish manufacturers would put a little more thought into the materials used for white appliances. I too like the look, but too many white appliances today are low quality plastic. It'd be nice to see more things in white glass or something.
I totally agree with Jayneway, all the newly reno'ed kitchens I see are stanless and granite. It will probably look pretty dated in 10-15 years. I think if I owned I'd try and go in a different direction. Birch and white is pleasing to me at least.
