For me, this loft by B-Arch Architettura, with its touches of weathered reds, blues, and browns, stops just shy of being too white. I love the vintage signage, the map headboard, the folded metal stairs and the time-worn document cabinet, each contrasting beautifully with the predominantly pale palette. The result? A warm and modern take on a timeless favorite… in short, white done right.
Do you agree? What's your favorite part of this home?

Nomade Express Slee...
The problem with white is that it usually looks amazing in photos because they have been edited. It gives the feeling of this great light and airy feel. In reality though, when I enter rooms that are white and even well designedones, they usually lack that light clean feeling and leave me rather cold. Most homes simply don't have enough of that natural beautiful light to make white look really amazing.
The floor in this place is beautiful.
It feels a little contrived. I think the all white walls and ceilings are a standard variant of what a lot of renters have to deal with - unpaintable, extremely neutral surroundings - but by making every almost every major piece of furniture white too, it's just trying too hard for my taste.
Holy cow. Where can I get a map like that?! Even half that size would be incredible. I greatly appreciate anyone's help!!
Ditto on the map!
When you have to use cherry tomatoes to bring in a splash of color, that should be a sign that something is slightly off. A big rug with muted blues and reds under the table would do wonders.
I like the look of the stairs and the map chest, but the proportions look odd. Anyone else see that?
What is that heart on the silver table? I am so intrigued!
Am just about to paint all the bedrooms white! Am so excited. It's going to be a vast improvement over the previous owners choices of latte, peach, lemon and bright pink. The bold blue entry can stay for now.
Staged photos make me want to smack the homeowner and/or photographer.
I love a true white and there are some interesting pieces here but the overall feeling is just plain cold.
I have bright white walls, ceiling and trim, which is very restful and works well with our antique furniture and oriental rugs as well as more modern pieces. I'm too clueless to introduce any colour, although I like the idea of brightly coloured walls.
It's not so much that it's all white--it's that it's all the same color. Picture this with blue or pink or green everywhere that there is white--it's just too much.
And it's pretty much all the same shade of white. When I see an all white room that I like, there are many shades and tints of white. Here they seem to have done their best to make everything--walls, ceilings, furniture--the same exact color. It comes across as sterile, even with the other touches of color throughout the space.
My best guess on that map is that is it a vintage pull-down school map. This particular one looks like a topographic map, where the distance above or below sea level is indicated by color.
This is pretty nice and I love the blue A against the white. My favorite white rooms, though, are those layered with many shades of white, off-whites and ecrus. Plus, some natural elements like wood or bamboo and a few plants. Plus, great natural light, of course.
I think white rooms are in many ways the hardest to do well.
Like white, like the map.
