White Noise Machine or Keep Looking for Apartments?

Good Questions

Q: I wanted to get some feedback on a question I'm grappling with in terms of renting a new apartment in DC. I've become newly obsessed with this site and I just know I'll get the answers I'm looking for here. I'm looking at a 1 bedroom apartment that is on the first floor of an absolutely gorgeous apartment building. The unit is very discounted because it is next to the garbage dumpsters.

The last thing I want is to be woken up by garbage trucks on a Saturday morning.

I can't take out and put in soundproof windows due to the building's management and I've looked in white noise machines but do they really work?

Should I just keep looking or start to consider soundproofing options?
