They've long been a staple of Parisian apartments and it's easy to see why — white oak floors are pretty, easy to maintain, and well suited to just about any design style.
I especially love them paired with an eclectic mix of furniture and shiny accessories, since they allow each piece to stand out, while creating a unique and mellow space.
- White oak floors and a mix of textures create a surprisingly glamorous kitchen in the House of Windsor showcase home.
- Pretty, sleek floors are the perfect compliment to colorful accessories.
- A hallway that's elegant and minimalist from top to bottom.
- Oak floors add a sleek edge to a traditional living room with an eclectic twist.
- Reused barn beams from Ohio look surprisingly chic in a LEED-certified green home.

Nomade Express Slee...
Love. We are considering using white-ish wood floors in our kitchen, and these pictures are making think its a good idea.
Yes, Tracie...it's a good idea!! I bought a house with travertine floors that are the envy of visitors, but the bane of my existence. Love those white oak floors!!
It's rustic and romantic beauty all in one
Just so everyone's clear, there's a difference between White Oak and white Oak. There's the species of White Oak which has been used for wood flooring for hundreds of years, it has a natural, neutral brown color. http://images.infradapt.net/images/AMW-7in-Rustic-RiftSawn-sm.jpg
Then there's the style of staining wood floor a variety of white or grey colors as seen in the above article.
Just trying to help. I'm picturing a state of confusion if someone went to a flooring contractor asking for a white oak floor.
I love light wood floors, but there's something about oak that's very unappealing to me no matter what shade it is.
This is one of those design elements that always, always looks European to me (which can be awesome or awful, depending on what you are going for.) Personally I like it: Sophisticated, simple, low-key.
My white oak floors are the bane of my life. Impossible to keep clean, and despite living by myself with one cat, they look dirty again just minutes after I've cleaned them. Fortunately, I'm about to move house, so needless to say the new place will NOT be having light floors!
Fantastic!

Thank you ~ just what I was wondering!
