White Wall Solutions: Rooms with Texture

RENTERS SOLUTIONS

All white walls provide a neutral backdrop that lends itself well to introducing texture.  Unlike pattern and color, which often make a bold statement, texture may not be quite as obvious, but can still make just as big of an impact.  Texture can add dimension to a room, create harmony between different elements, or serve as a focal point.  Consciously adding and playing with  texture — especially layered and contrasting textures — can be a quick way to transform any room, especially those rentals with stark white walls.

Texture can be seen virtually everywhere, especially once you start looking for it — from the obvious textures found in a shag or seagrass rug to the not so obvious, like the glossy white floors in images 1 and 3 or those amazing metal pendant lights in image 8.  You can create the illusion of texture by stenciling a painted pattern on a wall or canvas or blend similar textures together to create harmony in a room.  Regardless of how you use it, texture can help you achieve the look you want, despite the surroundings you started with.
