This afternoon I took a quick break and followed up on a Craigslist lead. It was one of those moments where you go right then or else you'll lose out and so…I went. Upon my return 300 square feet of yellow carpet tiles came home with me for a seriously discounted price. My dogs were less than impressed, so I started the emails, IM's and text messages!
Although everyone I sent a message to was at work, I did get a few replies back from those willing to share in my excitement. When you score a great find — whether it's carpet tiles, something awesome from a antique or thrift store, an auction of even a garage sale — the secret has to be shared with someone.
Even though keeping all of our secrets to ourselves might make people think we spend far more money than we really did, it feels as though we're falling into an age where finding quality pieces at discounted prices is an art and a sport. The more look for the least amount of money the better!
So who's the first person you contact? A parent? Best friend? Do you blog about it? Tweet? Or would you rather keep it to yourself and let people make their own conclusions? Let us know below!

Nomade Express Slee...
Definitely my mom. She's always the most impressed. And I only have one friend who's into thriftiness like I am, so sometimes her.
i normally tell my mom, because we're both bargain shoppers and really, that's the only thing we're competitive about.
whenever i tell my husband, he's less than impressed.
but funny thing, i scored some mustard yellow, bright green and teal flor tiles from craigslist for $16 total a few months back. they have been fantastic.
about 40 tiles in all...that less than the cost of 1 most of the time.
congrats on the score!
My sister!
I relate to all bargain hunters!! Definite score...:)
I blog about it first! my readers on My Little Apartment always seem to get just as excited as I do about my finds.
then I tell my boyfriend (who gets it...I think), my best friend (who definitely gets it), and my mom (who worries that I'm gonna "go broke savin' money")
My Mom and good friend (fellow bargain hunters). If it is an antique then my grandmother (she's a dealer). No thrill is quite the same!
It depends on the type of find! So many of my friends are into bargains these days due to the economy, it could be numerous different people! I just scored a really cool green velvet chair the other day for $20, and then two weeks prior to that, I got a fantastic toy-chest for my friend who's having a baby soon, also for only $20! Check out my blog cause I'll be doing makeovers of both soon!!
When you buy something so ugly, you should definitely keep it to yourself!
My family & friends are not so hot for interior design, bargain and treasure hunting, but I never let their varying degree of desintrest stop my obligation to let them take part in my happyness :-)
Definitely not the wife.
after reading this post, I checked for Flor tiles on craigslist, and found around 25 for $20 in brown and blue - which totally fits my decor. total score.
@rapidtransitman - That's awesome.
I tell my mom or my roommate, depending on the proximity to them, and the nature of the score. My mom loves finding things cheap, but doesn't necessarily love that I pull them out of the dumpster behind my apartment. My roommate is a total dumpster diver, though.
