Q: I'm usually pretty handy at finding stuff online. I cannot for the life of me figure out who makes this rocking chair I bought on craigslist. It was listed as a "contemporary" rocking chair from the 1970's. Other than that...no such luck. Does anyone have any clues?

Shaw's Original Fir...
Are there any markings on it at all?
We purchased a chair like this from Point Blanc Designs in the early 1980s. Our chair has a label on the back that says: Point Blanc Designs, 4301 South Upton Avenue, Minneapolis. When the store owner delivered this rocking chair to our home, he was unusually interested in the wooden dining room chairs we had made ourselves, examining them closely, then suggesting a small tweak to make them more elegant. So was he also a furniture designer, or just interested in good furniture design? After 30 years I don't recall.
Today's Scavenger Western edition had this Craigslist listing - looks similar http://seattle.craigslist.org/oly/fuo/2612319705.html
You could contact the seller to see if they'd be willing to check their chair for markings maybe?
Good luck!
Could be Artek Aalto or a knockoff of such
@ilovermont this is not from Artek or designed by Alvar Aalto. I'm in Finland and I have never seen this chair.
I have a friend in Portland who specializes in rare vintage furniture. He's an art dealer of sorts. He's very knowledgeable and can probably place this piece to its origin.
