Time to take a spotlight look at a really, really amazing room from our collection of house tours last week. Halle & Jeff outdid themselves with their NYC apartment kitchen. Let's talk about why it works.
First things first, that pattern! This couple chose a bold backsplash print that's eye-catching but also surprisingly neutral, thanks to the muted blue. They framed and accentuated all that pattern with dark and dramatic upper and lower cabinets painted Mopboard Black by Benjamin Moore. To kick up the cabinets even more, they added custom cabinet pulls from Anthropologie.
Aren't we all such suckers for a farmhouse sink? All that saturated color and bold pattern makes the stunningly simple white sink stand out even more. And, of course, you can't really go wrong with a super-cute SMEG fridge.
I really love the unexpected floor tile here. It's richly-colored and rustic and reminds me of a chic hacienda - it's warm and it works! A Thomas O'Brian pendant echoes the other deep, dramatic color choices, but also provides a little bit of white pop and the brass chain draws your eye up, which highlights the beamed ceiling.
All in all, I couldn't love it more.
