Born and raised in New Hampshire, I have spent many spring and summer months taking in residential and commercial landscaping and have seen more orange-colored mulched gardens than I care to admit.
Until recently, I didn't understand the purpose of mulch and chalked it up to a 'for the masses' or 'sold at a big box store' type of thing. I have softened that attitude a bit and now understand mulch's calling, but what I do not understand (and maybe never will) is why so many people in this area use orange mulch. And as the photo confirms, there are even shades of orange to chose from.
Let me take a moment to fill you in — the natural landscape is not orange in New Hampshire.
Is anyone else bothered by this, and can anyone draw a reasonable conclusion?
