Here's a crazy idea. Instead of investing thousands into an oak media cabinet, grab an extra-large wicker basket and throw all of your home theater stuff into it. Consider it a quick and dirty way to hide all that tech and its associated wires. Just make sure there's plenty of holes (and maybe Bluetooth support).
TIPS FOR A GOOD WICKER MEDIA BASKET:
- Get a Lid, Duh! You're not really hiding much if you don't have a lid to cover it all up. Grab an appropriately sized wicker basket and make sure it comes with one.
- It's Okay, Bad Wicker is Good: Surprisingly, this may be the one and only time you'll want to go for wicker that has plenty of holes for proper ventilation of your electronics. It might even be a better idea to go used at this point.
- Punch Holes. Lots.: If you're comfortable with it, you can get a good cord management system going if you're willing to punch a few holes to wrap and route cables in and out of the wicker basket. Plus, it'll certainly help with ventilation if you own tech that runs hot.
