Oh, single set-top box syndrome. It seems like everyone has it these days, no? Well, in case all you Wii owners out there have been up in arms regarding Netflix's favorability towards every other home entertainment box other than yours, you can put down the Wii-motes. Netflix is coming your way.
Basically, Netflix just announced yesterday that all Nintendo Wii owners with basic Netflix accounts (which costs roughly around $9 a month) will have the ability to watch Netflix's library of streaming movies and TV shows at no additional charge.
Like the PS3 Netflix add-on, it requires a disc with the included software, which can be requested free of charge over at: www.netflix.com/Wii.

This almost makes me want to get a box. The streaming ability. But I am going to try to hold out for the next generation which I imagine will be in the next 2 years or so for the Wii.
OK, this is good. I've long thought that a large catalogue of on demand movies available is great.
I am wondering though if Netflix streaming would ever be available in HD? Obviously the Wii would not be able to display HD though.
This is going to save me some money each month because i won't have to renew xbox live. Xbox needs to get with the program and offer free netflix streaming if it wants to compete with PS3 and now Wii for customers using live just for netflix.
I think now that Netflix is starting to get these new agreements with studios they will be able to do hd streaming at some point. But that's just a guess.
Hallelujah!
eltuerto -- It already streams at 720p -- I just imagine the Wii won't be able to display that. If your internet connection is fast enough, it'll stream at 3400 kbps, but that requires a 4760 kbps connection. I stream to my Mac Mini HTPC at that speed and it looks pretty damned good on my 42" 1080p TV.
