Wilder & Elliott's Wild, Wonderful Forest

My Room

Name: Wilder (4) & Elliott (2)
Location: Austin, Texas

We moved into our house when my first born was three weeks old. Setting up a nursery with a three-week old just wasn't in the cards, so the crib and dresser/changing table came into our bedroom with us and the nursery was set up as the guest room. A full year later we finally felt we we needed to move him to his own space, but it was such a sad, sterile place...

...So, on a whim, I painted the walls avocado green, with brighter green trees, and added paper leaves cut out of an old paperback novel.

Three years and one more son later, the room has grown up from a little forest nursery to a forest fit for two wild and beastly boys, and the mural idea has led to a new business. I know that they will grow out of it one day, but until then it will remain our own, special, wild and wonderful place.

Source List:

  • The room is painted in Behr Fresh Artichoke and Wasabi.
  • Wall mural by me, Avery O Design.
  • The bedding and lamps are from IKEA.
  • Everything is else is hand-me-downs, gifts, or thrift store finds.

Thanks, Avery! Readers, check out more of Avery's mural work at Avery O Designs.
