Wilfie's Fabric-Inspired Nursery

My Room

Name: Wilfie
Location: Halifax, Canada

We are currently renting an apartment, but when it came to decorating Wilfie's bedroom (our first son, having two older daughters) I didn't want to compromise just because we didn't own the space. My inspiration for this room began with some delicious cowboy fabric by British designer Cath Kidston.

My mother-in-law mailed over four yards of the fabric from the U.K. and set to work on using every last scrap of it from bumper to bib. Drawing on the colors in the fabric I chose apple green, red, and blue as my color scheme for the room. I painted the signature wall in apple green and used a bold green damask for the curtains.

Being British myself the room would not be compete without a Union Jack banner which I sewed myself. I re-painted a dark chest of drawers in white and then set to work on smaller accent projects from a patchwork quilt with Wilfie's complete name embroidered on it, to bibs, and even a family tree with all the faces of the family. I also framed Wilfie's clamp from his birth in a shadow box. The only thing missing is a lock of hair to frame, but being a bit of a hairless wonder of a baby it could take a while to obtain.

Thanks, Abigail!
