Name: William
Location: Chicago, Illinois
I love my little one bedroom apartment. I bought a three flat in the Andersonville neighborhood six years ago, and moved into the upstairs attic apartment while I rehabbed the building. I fell in love with the skylights and sunlight, I've tried living in one of the larger apartments now that the house is finished but am most comfortable and at home upstairs !!
The bathroom is built into the roof pitch with the tub around a corner, which being out of sight gives the bathroom a powder room feel. I painted the angled wall in Ralph Lauren's metalic silver paint which gives the bathroom a vintage airstream trailer feel. There is a skylight over the bathtub / shower which is my favorite in the apartment.
The entry is on the floor below with the staircase open to the living room above. An Aarnio puppy is there to welcome visitors.
Thanks, William !

What IS that couch and chair made from? It's incredible to look at, but doesn't seem too comfortable.
I'm guessing the basic color palate is white, blue, and dark brown? Stylish and sleek, but again...not too comfortable. It doesn't look lived in, you know?
Do you rent the first two floors then? It's cute that he enjoyed the attic most. :)
hot.
"What IS that couch and chair made from? "
They are the Kartel Bubble Club Sofa and Chair -
They're made of plastic. (mass-colored polyethylene)

The architecture (and your renovation thereof) is gorgeous!!
And yes, I'd probably want to live in the attic too. But then I'm short and I like sloping ceilings.
Golly, with that Bubble Club furniture and the very sparse accessories, it looks like an architect's digital visualization rather than a real, physical place. That kinda creeps me out.
It's uncluttered out of necessity I would imagine... because it's a teeny tiny temporary attic apartment and to do otherwise would welcome insanity. It's nice to see someone who doesn't feel the need clutter the simple beautiful lines of a space with tschotskies. I'm sure when it's time to cuddle on the sofa he drags a big ol cushion and afghan out of the wardrobe.
The bathroom is great. But I agree with others that the couch and chair are kind of "fake" looking so it gives the living room an unreal feel to it. At first glance, I thought it was a doll or play house.
When I was in college, they decided to switch out our grungy yet super comfy seating in the student lounge to those plastic sofas....ummm, awful idea. You may as well be "lounging" on rocks. Needless to say, we didn't use the student lounge so much anymore--maybe that was the point.
I hate when people criticize other people's places on the basis of what THEY would want to live with. Hey guys, he's not you, and he probably feels very comfortable with the stuff he chose. While saying, "I don't think I'd be comfortable with that for myself," is fine, blanket judgments feel really bad, at least to me.
i like the minimalist look in a traditional style home with all the wood trims. They compliment each other.
Too bad about the furniture.
Love the bathroom.
Perhaps he has a 6-toed cat and/or serves lots of red wine at his wild parties and chose these pieces for their indestructability?
fantastic!!
For some reason this reminds me of the 80s style remade house in Beatlejuice.
I bet he's hot as hell. Anyone with a home that cool has to be way cute!
Wonderful! Form follows function. The Starck Bubble Chair and sofa are hot hot hot! I have the sofa as well and find it incredible to sleep on with the delicate curves on the seat.
Really beautiful and I think that the chairs are great!
Full house tour please!
really love this.
Dibsies on furniture when he re-designs.
A house call without including the pets? Is that allowed? Maybe we could have a tour!?!
I really love the horizontal striped wall and the white furniture. I've never sat on that furniture before, but it looks hot in your place.
Love the Eero Aarnio puppy on the stairs too!
Great work.
Yes, give us a full house tour! The bathroom is wonderful; I'm keeping in it my computer scrapbook because of the clever way he made a potentially "awkward" space into a beautifully intimate bathroom.
more!!!!!
What a splendid little space! I would love to live there, too!
I could imagine that furniture made from a high density foam with a vinyl coating to look the same and still be (potentially) comfortable...
I like it a lot, but there's nothing personal sitting about to indicate something about the owner... don't you read books or anything?? ;^)
Bubble Club set it's looking good but in the same time that might be too cold in sometime of feeling , it is no matter if you are not a kind like lonely person.... this is so cool in personality
Well I just think this place is magnifique. I love the contrast of the dark wood doors, moulding and desk with the white walls, sofas and chairs (and the detail of the blue stripes is just enough of an accent). I love the way you've extended the look into the bathroom and that you used real furniture in there. I don't know if that plastics sofa and chair are comfortable at all, but I am going to pretend they are. LOVE LOVE LOVE this place.
I love the dark wood in contrast. really fantastic. I would consider painting the floors white or staining them black to really complete the stark cool finish.
This is so cute! I want a house tour, please!
More please!
Can I move in please?! That attic would be my favorite spot, too! And the furniture is way cool! Want a full tour!
