EC-I'm sure it's because of Canadian laws. I work for a company that does an occasional sweepstakes and by Canadian law, you have to "earn" any prizes somehow, so we have to include math problems on our entry form (for a thing completely unrelated to math). Very strange.

Cute little lamp, but I'm getting a little fed up with the "must be a US resident" thing too - there are other parts of the world outside your borders you know and some of us would be willing to pay the extra shipping/customs to get an item to us, instead of being excluded from just about everything. I'm only in Canada - how much can it cost? I don't think the "must be earned" thing is always true either - I can enter other contests happening in the US from time to time without having to do anything.
