Q: My fiancee and I just bought our first home, a 1943 Cape Cod. We are in the throws of redecorating and making the place our own. The current debate between my mother-in-law and myself is our awkwardly placed living room window. Two of the windows in the room are large picture windows.
I'd like to do floor length two-paneled curtains for both of them. The problem comes with the third window, which is to the left of the fireplace. It butts up right against the wall and is half the height of the other windows. I'd like to keep the look consistent and do two floor length panels. My mother-in-law insists that this won't work and we need to do one panel with a tie back. I insist it would look goofy. We are also have trouble figuring out where to hang the rod. Any opinions or ideas would be greatly welcomed.
