Did you know that an oak wine barrel can only be used for three to five years during the course of its life for wine making? After the flavor is lost they are no longer of use to a wine maker and must be discarded or transformed for another use. Furniture design company, Native Trails, has scooped up some discarded wine barrels and turned them into their latest gorgeous home decor and furniture line, The Vitner's Collection.
Shown above the jump, from left to right:
1 & 2 The Bordeaux Wall Mount: A wall-mounted vanity handcrafted from French and domestic oak wine barrels.
1 & 3 The Bordeaux Mirror: Made from salvaged oak wine barrel tops and each mirror features the original barrel maker’s stamp from which it was made.
4 & 5 Cabernet and Chardonnay Vanities: These pieces are made from oaking staves that have been soaking in red and white wine, giving them their distinct color and tone. The oaking staves are wire brushed, sanded and rubbed with a custom blended wax on the Cabernet, and a low-VOC finish for the Chardonnay.
