Yesterday Inhabitat and Philips announced the six winning designs in Inhabitat's Bright Ideas Lighting Design Competition, showcasing the energy-efficiency and environmental sustainability of LED technology...

The Grand Prize Winner, Ed Chew, received $1000 cash prize for his Tetra Pak lamp (left) made of recycled drink cartons; the Reader's Choice Award winner, Carolyn Joan Lau, received $500 for her Glowing Nourishment Lamp made of recycled plastic yogurt bottles (right), and the Third Place winners, Shay & Yael Mer, received $250 for their versatile cork Pinha Lamp (center).
