Flannel/fleece/fur/fuzzy Wrap your room in the textiles that you'd want to wrap yourself in. Bring in throw blankets, curtains and pillows upholstered in rich, sumptuous materials. Don't be afraid to place them in odd places like laying across a dresser or pillows piled high on a bench.
Warm glow Small lamps with low-watt bulbs and candle arrangements are a must for creating a warm glow in your bedroom that will make the room feel so cozy. Place three or four areas of low-watt light around the room; it'll create a perimeter of warm light around the whole space.
Fuzzy for the feet Flokati and shag rugs are a fun element to play with in your space (and are great to add in the winter even if you already have a rug or carpet) but you can even step it up a notch and try layering a bunch of thin rugs for a comfy and bohemian effect.
Canopy for the bed If you've got the means to create a canopy (if your bed doesn't have a frame, consider suspending some fabric from a point on the ceiling above the bed) you'll go a long way to creating a cozy space by making a little central nest of comfort out of your bed.
Deep, comfy chair Even if you won't use it that much, if you have the space, consider adding a comfy, upholstered chair. It'll add to the cozy effect.
Dark/jewel/earth tones Any colors can be cozy and you should always choose the colors that work for your tastes, but if you're looking to really step things up, consider going for a winter color palette that incorporates darker, earthy, jewel tones.
Over-sized knits If you're looking for just one thing to add an instant level of cozy? Go for an over-sized knit pattern in a blanket or pillow. We're loving Not Knot Pillows and Le Souk's Hand Knitted Rug/Blanket and Hand Knitted Cushion.
