One of the most wintery spaces I've seen in recent years was a story featured in Elle Decor's 2007 December issue showcasing interior photographer William Waldron's wintery farmhouse in the Hudson Valley.
Highlights include painted white floors, unframed impressionistic oil paintings casually leaning against walls, roaring fires, zebra skin rugs, tasteful taxidermy, and an overall "less is more" aesthetic. Every item seems so intentionally placed.
And the space screams winter, doesn't it? So if you're looking to make your space appropriate for the season, take the following cues from Waldron: light your fire, stick with white upholstery, and set up a teepee outside.

White Enamel Flatwa...
This place is gorgeous!
Stunning!
It was in the December issue of Living etc this year!
Love it!
I've been a fan of his photos for years. He has a real talent for photographing light-filled spaces. His home reflects that.
Love the spaces but the furniture is all wrong, IMO--especially in the first and third photos.
ACK! That poor fireplace! Anyone who paints over natural stone is seriously misguided (brick I can sometimes see painting). I also mourn those lovely wideboard wood floors, but they were often painted in the 18th and early 19th centuries, so I can't pull the historical accuracy card.
I LOVE the bedframe, but all the other furniture has too many hard angles and not enough cushions for rooms that white. I have to agree a bit with @Jsenpai on the coldness. Especially with that poor flattened zebra on the floor.
The light is lovely though.
oh boy is this fabulous
