Wirepop Series by Colgate Searle at Scope Miami

My good friend and super talented designer Colgate Searle will be showing his wire hanger sculptures at Scope Art Show in Miami. The pieces will be on view through the weekend in conjunction with Art Basel, the country's most prestigious international art show.

Each hand-crafted piece is painstakingly bent into shape from a standard issue wire hanger. The pieces in the above image are listed clockwise from top left: duckies, chair, bird, and doggie. The latter was inspired by the artist's four-year-old smoothcoat Brussels Griffon named Major (see the cute couple here), and it was in replicating her likeness in hanger that Colgate got the idea to create other forms as well. He's expanded his repertoire to include text, technology, human beings, and an ever-growing list of imaginative subjects.

If you head to the Subports booth at Scope, there you'll see an extended collection of Colgate's wire sculptures and some great new work by other emerging artists. Subports is a revolutionary new platform that allows users to purchase items via SMS text from their phones. For example, to order the doggie model:

1) Make an account with Subports. It's safe and it links your credit card to your phone.

2) Text your zip code to confirm your account.

3) Text "ColgateDoggie" to 767825 and your account will automatically be charged $50.

Many additional items will be available at the Scope event, or by visiting Subports.
