Wishbone Bike

Long popular in Europe, running bikes have taken hold in the U.S. and this is the prettiest one we've seen. A product of Wishbone Design Studio of New Zealand, the wooden bike starts as a tricycle, converts to a 2-wheel running or balance bike and then the frame is flipped to produce a running bike large enough for kids up to around 5 years. That's a long life for a kids' bike.

The Wishbone is available in plain wood ($250) or in the limited edition endangered species edition shown above ($299).

It's also good to know that Wishbone bikes are made from wood from sustainably managed forests and the wheels from 60% post-consumer recycled plastic. Learn more about Wishbone here or purchase one in the U.S. here.
