Goodbye Thanksgiving accoutrements, hello winter holiday decor! A welcoming wreath on your door is always a nice wintery touch during the holidays, especially when you live in a city where the chances of an upcoming snowfall are zero percent.
I've been eyeing one at my local florist for the last two weeks, however, DIY wreath tutorials abound this time of year. Grab your glue gun and decide on your wreath accessory of choice: cookie cutters, lima beans, old magazines, tissue paper, or peppermints to name a few. Welcome friends, come on in.

Shaw's Original Fir...
Huh. I thought that first one was martini olives! Wasn't sure how durable it would be...

The first one was beautiful until she painted it.
haha! I thought the first one was martini olives, too! And thought that I wouldn't be able to finish the wreath because I would have eaten all of them.
Thanks for the mention, Apartment Therapy!
P.S. The bay wreath was photographed by Lisa Warninger http://www.lisawarninger.com Thanks for adding a credit!
I need something that won't mind a little rain or snow. I really don't want an artificial pine looking wreath, but I don't know what else won't fall apart on me. Pinecoans are my last resort.
How long do cut branches of evergreens last?
LOL, pine cones. Sorry.
jess13: I make greenery wreaths for my front door every year, much like the one featured here by {frolic}. I hang them late November and they easily last a few weeks after Christmas. As long as you're in a cold climate I'm sure yours will last all season too.
Wire coathangers bent into a square make a nice form for boxwood wreaths. (I hang these inside in the kitchen windows). A misting now and then keeps them fresh.
I totally thought that first one was made from peanut M&Ms.
Here's one I'm going to try! My neighbor works at a wine shop, so he brought me two bags of corks!
How to Make a Cork Wreath
Just finished making feather wreaths using white feather boas from the dollar store. Wrap the length around your wreath form then wrap some mini white lights into the wreath and plug in. Don't have an electrical outlet close by, use glow sticks hidden inside the wreath. It looks beautiful!
i like these!! very cool.
We have been saving up wine corks for a very long time (or we just drink a ton of wine) - anyway, I made a cork wreath for our dining room to make it feel festive! I have been thinking of something for the front door - so thanks for the ideas!
@elseachelsea You are very welcome!
Thanks for the great comments and feedback. Love the feather and wine cork ideas too!
I made a wreath using an old sweater and some felt and fabric scraps. You can check it out here: http://craftylittlegnome.blogspot.com/2011/11/upcycled-sweater-wreath.html
I love the recyled book page one, although I sort of feel bad cutting up books.
I love the little cookie cutter wreaths.I like wreaths and topiary.Very decorative for all seasons and holidays.Interesting ideas.
for a wreath made using paper, paint and scissors and pins (and some crackle) see http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=248682271854066&set=a.138938956161732.25651.138938322828462&type=1&theater
Thank you so much for featuring my blog!
I just wanted to mention that the cookie cutter wreaths were featured in one of my "Bright Idea" posts where I collect images from other sources. In the post, the original sources are cited under the photo in brown text. Thanks again!

Please Note
@Elizabeth and @elseachelsea Thanks for the updated credit info...I will make those changes. Much appreciated!
Very creative---all of them. But I have to confess that I don't care for the spray-painted green acorns, and the lima beans.
Wow, those green acorns REALLY look like olives! I have to admit I would be tempted to paint all the flat spots on the end of the acorns with a red dot to make the semblance even stronger.
lovely ideas! I know most of the readership lives 'up north', but i'd be thrilled to see Christmas/Holiday decoration ideas for those of us living in the Southern Hemisphere where a snowy cold winter is about as far from reality as any thought of hot drinks. Does anyone know a clever website like this that highlights hot weather Christmas decorating ideas?
I like this one made of old diary pages: http://toftsnummulite.blogspot.com/2011/12/trees-for-life-not-just-for-christmas.html
Thank you for the feature!!! Love your site!!! xoxo,
