we just use two big blue ikea bags. super sturdy, and keeps all the mess in. (i don't know where photographers get their firewood, but ours comes with a whole lot more dirt and bark and outdoorsy stuff.)

This is really cute. I don't have a fire place but I like the idea of putting rolled up blankets in it.
