Wooden Toys From Around The World

There's something special about a wooden toy, whether it's because of a sense of nostalgia or a desire for something without (literal) bells and whistles. While searching for some unique gifts for the holidays, we came across some great handcrafted wooden toys from all over the world. Check out my round up, and maybe you'll find something you love!

1. Circus Animals Act, by Etsy Shop Watermelon Cat Company, $50. Balance these paint-dipped wooden animals to create a playable sculpture.
2. London Town, by Kukkia, $40. This Japanese company makes several play towns, including London (with Big Ben, a double decker bus, and the London Eye) and Paris.
3. Wooden Toy Camera, from Clickin Moms, $29. Instead of an Instagram account, give them a wooden camera!
4. i-Wood, My First Laptop, from Smallable, $55. French site Smallable carries this clever analog laptop with chalkboard keys and screen.
5. Toaster, by Plan Toys, $28. A great addition to a play kitchen, this toaster comes with wooden bread!

6. Offshore Set, by Permafrost, $268. Norwegian designers Permafrost created this set that includes an oil rig, oil tanker and a helicopter; it was presented at the London Design Festival as part of the Norway exhibit.
7. Totems, by Dino Sanchez, $60. These stackable wooden blocks are handmade in the US from solid oak and walnut with non-toxic finishes.
8. Happy Car, by Usuals, $108. Made in the Netherlands from left over clippings from the farm.
9. TI Asia Blue, by Papafoxtrot, $161. Made in Hong Kong, the TI Asia Blue is a replica of a supertanker that can carry 3 million barrels of oil.
10. Play Park, by Plan Toys, $80. This miniature park contains a cable car, bikes, a glider, a climbing ladder, and a turnable wind turbine.
