There are plenty of cool dollhouses on the market these days, but often these toys are considered rather feminine. The Wooden Tree House from Bella Luna provides a similar play experience, yet with what might be considered a more gender neutral space.
The three different levels of this wooden toy are made entirely from reclaimed wood. A fantastic attention to detail means that there's a rope ladder, a bamboo basket on a pulley, a top level lookout, stairs, and a tree swing. Plenty to keep any kid busy and engaged.
How do you feel about dollhouses? Are they gendered female? Do you have a boy who plays with one? Is the tree house a good alternative, or is it unecessary?
Available at Bella Luna for $150.

stunning!!!
cute!!
gorgeous, although i can see kids trying to climb up it...
if my hypothetical daughter (or son, for that matter) loved dolls and pink, i would have no problems with it. however, it is nice to be able to expose kids to toys that are gender neutral!
My son loved the little Melissa & Doug dollhouse his sister received for Christmas and played with it a lot more than she ever did. His toddler class had a Little Tykes doll house with very realistic dolls that was his absolute favorite thing to play with there. And now his preschool has a treehouse-style doll house like the one pictured and he likes playing with it--although the blocks and legos are his more frequent choices. I personally have never been drawn to this style of doll house; but the kids at the preschool really like it and it is seems to be played with equally by boys and girls. They have little Waldorf-style dolls and gnome-like wooden furnishing. The pulley is a big part of the attraction.
