Looks like Joel and I had similar thoughts today! USB flash drives are seen almost everywhere these days, and like Joel's roundup of wood finish tech, I think using a natural material instead of plastic creates a beautiful contrast between the natural finish and the tech inside. Here's some of my fav flash drives with a wood finish...

1. Simon & Me Woodpecker USB Flash Drive: This limited edition flash drive is made by Simon & Me. Most of their designs are limited to production run of under 250 products, so you'll need to act fast. Each flash drive is unique and is engraved with the company's melting snowflake logo. It's available for $42 at Simon & Me.

2. Thalbach Design Wooden Flash Drives: These wooden drives are available in two different versions from Thalbach Design. Both the Square and Face models are appealing, but will set you back $90 to $138 for sizes of 4GB to 16GB. They come in quite a few different types of wood, which is distinctive.

3. Woodventure's Carved USB Flash Drives: This amazingly finished USB flash drives were carved by hand. You can find a few different models and sizes in Woodventure's Etsy store.

4. DIY Wooden Flash Drive: Although buying a USB flash drive is pretty straightforward, nowadays with these miniature-sized drives, you can easily hack your own. Check out this post on how to do so yourself.

5. AIAIAI & Libertine Libertine Flash Drive: If you love branches on your USB drives, then this is the model for you. This drive also comes with the debut album of Pantherman.

6. Oooms: Available in sizes from 1GB to 8GB, this USB flash drive from the Netherlands sets itself apart thanks to its attention to design and the intrinsic allure of these hunks of wood hiding data ($55 to $75, available online through Oooms).

7. Spinacz Clamp USB Drive: While not as natural-looking as some of the other wooden USB drives, this one is unique since it can easily be clamped anywhere, making it easy to lug around. Available starting at $35 for 1GB up to $63 for 4GB.

8. Carbon Neutral Flash Drive: The overall look is somewhat basic, but you don't need to complexify something as simple as a USB flash drive. The carbon neutral facet makes it an interesting purchase for green consumers.

9. Marubeni InfoTech Wooden Drive: This is a simple but good-looking flash drive that looks oddly nice, for some reason. The overall shape looks pleasant to the eye. However, these drives were only available in Japan.

10. Wooden Animal Flash Drive: While maybe not as stylish and sophisticated as some of the other flash drives we've featured, these drives are cute enough to pass as toys for toddlers.
