We love Jan from Poppytalk, so when we found out she'd curated September's featured items at Fawn & Forest, we rushed over to see what she'd found. She didn't disappoint. These yoyos, made of sustainably harvested wood, fall into that fabulous territory where kids' toys intersect with usable art.
We understand that Ben Floeter and Natalie Wright, the folks behind Suddenly, It's Real! live "in a tiny tree house in a tiny forest in the mid-west." Their location is obviously an inspiration for their work. In fact, each yoyo started its life in the forest in which Ben and Natalie live.
If you want to be charmed further, here's the process by which the yoyos are crafted:
The wood is carefully selected, hand cut, meticulously sanded and finished with natural shellac, then assembled with the utmost care. The strings are 100% cotton, professional YoYo strings! Each YoYo measures approximately 2" diameter. Before leaving the shop, they must pass rigorous testing by Ben himself, to insure that you will receive a quality product that works like a charm!
