Wool is such a wonderful material for a number of reasons. That's why I sought it out in a few newborn essentials for my son. Here are a few wool products for newborns that I've found are so worth it:
Wool is naturally antimicrobial, it wicks away moisture and cools in the summer while providing warmth in the winter. This makes it a wonderful choice for babies when it comes to apparel, bedding and even toys.

We just got the sheepskin cover for our Ikea Poang chair for the nursery - love it!! http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/90120215
This isn't specifically for the baby, but I have wool breastpads from LanaCare. I love, love, love them! They are so worth the money--really comfortable, absorbent, and they don't stink!
Ooh, that sheepskin cover for the Poang chair looks sweeeet. Tell me - I am expecting another spit-uppy baby here in a few months - how is the cleanability of the chair? Would the "wipe with a damp cloth" really take spit-up out of the sheepskin?
@TexanHolly: I have an Ikea sheepskin on a chair in our living room. My son, now 10 months, recently ate and then promptly spit back up a mouthful of hot pink sidewalk chalk. All over the snowy white sheepskin. He had a chance to kind of rub it in with his hands before I caught him. I thought for sure it'd never come out, but all it took was a slightly damp washcloth to remove the stain and then a hairbrush to smooth the fibers back out.
Later, he pooped pink all over the beige frieze carpet in the den. That did not come out so easily. Eew.
Bac Out works wonders on our wool rugs.
We have a kissaluvs cover it's great for overnights.. PEE only. If you have a BF baby and they poop, it will come gushing out the legs. Granted, that's with prefolds and I haven't tried fitteds.. but with the liquid nature of BF poop.. I can't imagine it'll help.
I like these wool diapers. They are made in Georgia, totally organic and come in cute colors too!http://www.betterforbabies.com/Organic-Wool-Diaper-Covers-by-Little-Beetle-s/2.htm
awesomebrandi...I bf and cloth-diaper my newborn too. A cover on the prefolds like bummis superbrite is a great way to stop any gushing and when you do go to fitteds, they work way better than the few times I have had to resort to disposables during travel (that is when I had the gushing problem!) EWW.
