I'm typing this right now surrounded by the simulated sounds of a packed coffee shop thanks to a website designed for those of us who work from home in silence. Based upon the research finding a balance between "calm and commotion" can aid in creativity and productivity, Coffitivity brings all the sounds of being in a public space without the serious annoyances of being bothered by actual people...
- Direct your lonely ole self to http://coffitivity.com/.
- Moderate ambient noise is proven to boost creativity.
- Get your headphones plugged in, hit the player and start creating. (Note: For best results, set the player volume so your music is just barely louder than Coffitivity.)

actually I thought the same as you regarding the repetitive segments that I couldn't ignore...but their latest version which has been up for about a week now is 25 minutes long and is MUCH more friendly to the attentive listener. You do occasionaly hear the same stuff but the one that pissed me off "had that experience...this whole week" is only detectable 4-6 times per 25 minutes which is much more acceptable than the 60 times in 10min.
So anyway...give it another shot, I'd like to know if these fixes have made it less noticable for you as well.
I actually find it much more useful than I could have ever guessed!
So i enjoy this thing.. but i still hate the guy that has that weird laugh in the background. You do have a longer loop, but unfortunately he seems to laugh like 4 times in a row.. "aaaEEEhhh - heeeeehhhe hhhh"
ARGH..
I live in the coffee capital of the US and to me this sounds more like a cafeteria than a coffee shop. Where are the latte steamers and coffee grinders? If I want more ambient background I choose rainymood.com.
