Now that Blu-ray has emerged victorious, there is an interesting dilemma. Many retailers are stuck holding HD-DVD players and movies, and as a result we are seeing incredibly chep pricing on these movies and players. So the question is, would you buy an HD-DVD player and movies now? Stock pile as many movies as you can and keep the HD-DVD player next to the Blu-ray player? Please share your thoughts in the comments, inquiring minds want to know.

i'm not old enough to have an answer on this but when beta max lost out to VHS it seems like the same thing would have happened, but lets say 10 years ago before dvds were hitting it big, how many people had a betamax running next to their vcr with stockpile of moves for it, not many is my guess.
seems like a waste of money and the fastest way possible to have out of date equipment, aka, buying it when you know it's being discontinued for good...
Huh? Rush out and spend money on a technology BECAUSE it's dead? Seems like an odd plan to me.
All the super-cheap HD-DVD discs are tempting, but we'll probably sell our player... it'll just be more tech clutter. I wish there were better legit sources to download movies - then we could bypass this format silliness altogether!
If you have a HD TV already and a so-so dvd player, these cheap HD-DVD players are also great 'upscaling' dvd players, which will make your dvd's look great. I see upscaling players with HDMI ports for $129 at my local Bestbuy and have heard of HD-DVD players reduced to $90.
And there are deals where you can get a player with 5, 7, 10 movies for free.
Gosh. I could store it next to my eight track player, disc camera, and analog cell phone.
