Earlier this month, Sarahc from Chicago reminded us of all the fantastic designs from Bailey Doesn't Bark. Each porcelain piece is full of whimsy with a side of humor. Yesterday they released a new design and although we think eating off 23k gold roaches is super fun, we're not so sure it's a setting we'd put out when we have our Grandparents over for dinner. Photos, pricing and links after the jump.
Original artwork and creation by Re Jin Lee. They are hand decorated with three 23K gold roaches. One on each piece.
Each set lists for $47 and comes with a white porcelain cup (2.4" x 4", 10OZ) and saucer (5.75"). Would they be a purchase for your home? Or will you pass on this one?

Oh. Damn. More bugs. Art smaaaart. Gross.
Hideous.
Eeew. No. Absolutely not. The ants were bad enough.
i LOVE these. i'm gonna get some right after i buy those plates i wanted with dog poo painted on them.
No no no no no no no no no!!!! Eeeeeeeeeeeeeuuuuuuuuuuuggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhh!!
pass!
*grin*
I had to come back and see this again. Mfpants, I was thinking about maybe a soup bowl with a big ol' wad of human hair etched into the glaze at the bottom would be sweet.
I'll eat 1000 meals off the Dexter Bloody Plates before i ever look at these again, thanks.
Ew disgusting. No roach in any form should exist in my place.
I agree, too gross to be ironically funny....
I must be in the minority here, but I think these are beautiful! 23K gold roaches, makes me giggle
This is revolting on every level. I'm a professional artist and I don't like it even a little.
Yes! I think they're very witty and beautiful. How many baby deer and owls can the design world stand?
Fun to display only. I would not serve on these and I would not eat off of them. I think it's daring that they're experimenting with offbeat motifs, but for me personally I can't think about certain things when I'm eating or else I'll gag -- like hair, vomit, bugs, and worms. Again, for display - fine.
EEEEeeeeekkkkk! No way would I ever want this in my home! This really misses the mark when it comes to appeal.
Why would you want this?
Insects illustrated in detail can be beautiful. These look like gold blobs shaped like cockroaches. I think that the joke would wear off very quickly.
I used to have coffee cups with frogs sitting in the bottom of them (three-dimensional). The frogs would appear bit by bit as you drank your beverage. They were cute and fun to surprise people with: they were a gag. And I bet they cost about $5 apiece. But a $47 gag? No.
Oh now that's just horrific. Literally *any* other insect or creature I would be fine with. But not waterbugs.. Cringe!
witty but *eeeeewwwwwwww....*
Y'all are making me feel like a weirdo: I love them!
Yuk! Talk about killing my appetite.
I appreciate the idea but I'd give the execution itself a pass.
I dont' need to buy these -- i have too many real ones...
HELL TO THE NAW!!!
Nope. Not for me. I still cringe when I remember a woman I didn't know very well visiting me at home after I had my daughter. We served our guest coffee, and she looked down at her cup and quietly got up and put the cup in the sink without drinking out of it. When she left, I looked at the cup, and of course, there was a roach floating in the coffee.
I never saw that woman again.
Hey! It only happened ONCE! What can I say? The landlord was a monster and I had to take him to court to get an extermination.
And, it was a cute pottery cup with a smiling face in relief at the bottom. Unfortunately, she never got to see it, and I have a lifelong humiliating memory.
No 14K roaches at the bottom of my cup for me.
From antlers to antennae ...
No friggin way do I want to eat on that.
All this reminds me of is the time I was sipping a cappuccino in a nice little café and found myself holding a parboiled cockroach between my lips.
