Name: Wren (6 months)
Location: Christiansburg, VA
Color Inspiration: An old thrift store suitcase, my own c. 1975 baby blanket and nature. The suitcase began the process which was developed further with many handmade or passed-down items from great-grandmas, grandmas, grandpas, and aunts. Most of the objects in this room are a part of family history. I also wanted to integrate the colors often found in nature in an attempt to compliment the dark brown woodwork that seems too prominent to me. I figured, it used to be a tree (trunk) so why not put some green (leaves) around it?
Tip for Using Color: Use the nursery as an excuse to be bolder than you might otherwise be. Most of our home is fairly "safe" color-wise, but Wren's room has inspired us to take more risks in other places. When choosing wall colors, stick with it if you love it--no matter what "they" say. When this color first went up not a single person told me it would work, and now everyone loves it. Especially me!
Colors Used: Walls: Behr Grass Cloth. Elsewhere: Shades of green, blue, brown and a little red.
Thanks for your colorful entry Joi and good luck!

Beautiful room!
Just lovely. My favorite.
Oh my! Wonderful.
i love love love the crib - did you paint it or did it come that way? the color is perfect!
Love it. While looking put together, it still feels relaxed. And what a fab Charlie Harper print!!!
Thank you! We painted the crib and dresser with a custom color.
Stitchify-the painting over the bed was done by Wren's grandmother, with all inspiration credited to Charlie Harper!
This is totally my favorite room.
So beautiful! I love all of your paint color choices, and love that it has so many unique, handmade and/or hand-me-down touches!
I love the bird poster, can you tell me where you got it?
Wow! I've finally seen another crib that is almost like ours! (we had ours painted bright turquoise)
Sweetest nursery ever.
My favorite. It is sweet and sentimental. You can tell a lot of love went into this room.
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this room! It is just perfect!
Very beautiful! I think it so unique and personal.
lovely print of charley harper
Love the nursery, it is very pretty!
I also love the name, with our first on the way, had it been a girl Wren was going to be her middle name.
I could not love this more! I've been attempting a natural whimsical vintage modern bird-themed room for my daughter and you NAILED IT!
Oh! And, in our last house, we painted our daughter's room Grass Cloth! Love it!
of all the rooms i've seen so far, this is the first one that makes just want to crawl inside and take a nap. lovely. so peaceful.
This little girl will grow up with an easy sense of style, a love for things that are unique, and appreciation for bright, bold colors. Well done!
@ oaxacaborn - my sentiments exactly...or stretch out on the bed and read a book, that'd be nice too. Even through photos the room just conveys serenity. This is my favorite, by far, and there are some really nice rooms as competition. The colors complement the dark woodwork perfectly; everything looks very warm and soothing. Where do the steps/curtain lead? It looks very hidden-staircase-ish.
oh my, i love this sooooooo much!
When I have a baby, you and your mom need to help me make a room that awesome! : )
