We love a good remodeling project. There is such a wonderful feeling when you first begin and you are filled with a million "What ifs.." Wren’s nursery was recently remodeled and it definitely shows us that the “after” will always beat up the “before.”
Take the full tour after the jump.
Wren’s parents, Ashlea and Chris, repainted the walls, refinished the floors and decided to create a spacious, yet comfy and inviting room with a lovely orange and green palette. The effect is a warm and inviting room that looks light years away from how it began.

Inspiration:
Woods and dunes of northern Michigan with a splash of early summer poppies. Plus a bit of funk!
Favorite Element:
The pieces of artwork that our family and friends have made for Wren: wren mobile, heirloom stitchings and paintings. I love how they have blended with the furnishings and overall feel of the nursery.
Biggest Challenge:
Fitting the furniture pieces into a very small room without it feeling crowded and unbalanced.
What Friends Say:
“Awwww, it’s so Wren!”

Favorite DIY:
Wren, of course! And Wren’s dresser, which had been stripped and sanded, then I lined it with some cute-as-a-button sage green drawer liners (Target!), painted the drawer fronts orange and installed new funky hardware. An old dresser, reborn.
Biggest Indulgence:
No VOC Freshaire Choice paint & BioShield wood finish. It was a no-brainer for Wren’s nest, but they are obviously more expensive.
Best advice for those approaching the nursery decorating process:
Don’t get too caught up in the gender of the child; think outside the blue or pink box. We didn’t know what we were having and I think this helped us to create a room that we’d be proud to raise any baby in, boy or girl.

Dream Source:
Two stores in Traverse City, which we absolutely love for Wren’s room and wardrobe: Sweet Pea and Green Island.

Love Wren's nest, and love her family too!
Love the orange! It's definitely one of my favorite colors for a nursery, as you can see here: http://www.everybodylovesbaby.com/english/lukis-pad/lukis-pad/
That mobile is gorgeous! And I agree with the stepping out of the pink or blue mindset. There are so many other great options for kid's rooms.
Beautiful! Love the orange. Wren is adorable, too!
so gorgeous! I love the glider - where did you get it?
I LOVE the dresser. What a great way to breath life into an older piece of furniture. I may just have to borrow that idea someday.
Love the room! I love orange, so there you go. Where did you get the separate Wren letters? They're adorable. The chest of drawers looks amazing.
And, BTW, that is one beautiful baby.
What a transformation!
Normally I hate all things squirrel, but when I saw this picture, I instantly thought awe that squirrel is cute.
Thanks, everyone!
A couple answers: the glider/ottoman is DwellStudio for Target. I recovered the ottoman because when I washed the cover, it fell apart. I will do the same for the glider cover. Any thoughts on a fun fabric to use?
And the Wren letters I designed and printed on my good ole HP printer. More details on that can be found on my blog: besquirrely.com
Thanks so much!
I have the same green contact paper from target, love it!
beautiful.
I love your bird mobile. Did you make it? Can you tell me what it is made out of?
thanks!
The bird mobile was made by a friend. The basic material is simply foam core and cardboard for the wings paint... Our friend is an Exacto knife wizard!
Thank you for sharing! The homemade wall art is beautiful. I especially love the framed Wren prints and the orange felt square with cutouts. Awesome nursery!
Oh, and I have that contact paper from Target, too. I used it in an old desk I had at work in a library. It always made me smile! Very cute in your diy furniture!
