While we wouldn't necessarily appreciate this greeting in our entryway, it's an interesting exercise to think of what we would put up there, if we could customize the phrase.

i like the idea, but i feel there could be a better relationship between the verticals on some of the letters and the hooks themselves. that would be pretty great, in fact.
Speaking of customizing...
The birthdays of my parents and brother are all in August, within a week of each other. Last year, I was shopping for a gift and saw some brass letter hooks at Anthropologie on the clearance table, so I picked up the first letters of each of their first names and the first letter of our last name. When they arrived, my mom called me and said, "You left out a letter- I ordered the first letter of your name too!" Later that month, I was in town visiting and saw that she had hung all five letters in the entryway. They spell out "G R A F T."
I don't understand hanging letters or words on walls. Unless it spells something significant, like nosestuckinabook's example above, which is kinda kooky and fun because no one but them will understand it, it looks ultra tacky.
"Cafe"
"Read"
"Love"
Wha? Are you going to serve me espresso and a danish? What if I don't want to read right now? You love what, your wall? I don't get it.
My biggest peeve are the bedroom signs that say "Dream."
i was just looking at these the other day. since i'm moving from chicago to santa monica in a few weeks i thought the 'love it or leave it' phrase would be funny for my coats!
Lol.. Lisa, you're so on.. or don't forget "Live, Laugh, Love"
Anyone make a sign that says, "BARF" ??
