It looks like New Xbox Experience is going live today and man, are we stoked. Expect a brand new user-interface with new channels, avatars, and *cue drumroll* Netflix streaming! That's right, you'll essentially be able to stream any movie onto your big screen without having to buy another box. It's like having almost every single movie ever made, in crisp high-definition, right at your fingertips. Like a pompous DVD collector's worst nightmare.
We gather the Netflix instant cue means it will stream immediately in high definition - something that's been hard to come by with any other hardware platform we can think of.
How's it all work? Well you need to be an Xbox Live member of Gold status and have a Netflix subscription to partake in the high-def goodness. The cheapest package from Netflix that allows instant cue is $8.99, an excellent value considering what you'll be getting.

Netflix mail program has every movie just about. The 'view instant' or streaming portion does not yet have a huge selection of movies. I've been using this for quite a while and new stuff is added fairly often, and they just added a bunch of new stuff from 'Starz'. If you use it often enough you'll soon run out of stuff to watch. Unless you really, REALLY like b or c movies.
Installed the new experience as soon as I woke up this morning...yes my XBox is in my bedroom...yes...I have a TV in the bedroom....no I don't want to open up that debate.
The new UI and the netflix streaming is great. Not only is there a sizable list of second-run movies, documentaries, and obscure things to pick from...they also have streaming TV episodes, often within 24 hours of them being aired on TV. The selection isn't huge, but the big hits like Heroe's and CSI are.
If you don't have a DVR, and don't want to pay 'extra' for the content by buying it from XBox Video Marketplace or Apple iTunes this is a sweet deal.
But that's just for streaming content. Everything else about the new experience is incredibly well polished and engaging. I'm going to play with the sharing photos option tonight.
I am loving the new interface. We have 2 xbox 360s in our house and we have updated them both. Our main one we just attached to our netflix account. There are quite a few things on the instant queue that we can watch while waiting for more discs to arrive in the mail. I am hoping that this will allow them to negotiate for more movies to be instantly available.
