We are in mourning. We just sent our XBOX 360 into the Microsoft Regional Hospital after it showed the signs of extreme fatigue and heat exhaustion: The Red Ring of Death. In our difficult time, we considered voiding our warranty and opening the sucker up for some emergency surgery—anything to avoid missing out on 16 solid days of G.T.A. and Rock Band—but we ultimately decided on the official route. If you're of the kind that is confident in your skills and wants to open your unit up, consider putting it back together into theXBOX 360 noise-eliminating and cooling case XB01 from Lian Li. The XB01 can stand either vertically or horizontally. The XB01 is quieter and more efficient and can extend the lifespan of your XBOX by keeping its components at a lower temperature.

There is a 120mm exhaust fan at the rear of the XB01 to replace the two original 70mm cooling fans. The new fan can move the heat faster and with less noise. Special sound insulation foam sheeting around the optical drive reduces the mechanical noises from vibration of spinning disks. There are aluminum dust covers for the front connectors to protect the connector. The optical drive has a spring loaded dust cover.
